New Poem: Famine Feasts

You know what I love about poetry the most?  That you just follow the thread and write what comes out.  It doesn’t have to make sense…just write what you are presented with.  What appears will be as mysterious to you, as any reader.  The more mysterious it is, the deeper it resonates within.  Here is “my” latest, penned on October 28th, 2010.

Famine Feasts

Sometimes blessings will come your way
and famine feasts
upon the carefully prepared meal
of your life
until nothing but crumbs populate
the emptied plate.

Who knew that careful preparation
would lead to separation?
You have been fed enough
of that for one lifetime…

Now, leave the table
and look out the window.

the beast of burden
has fallen down in the field
and begun to daydream,
of greener pastures
of skies filled with stars
and of places that we all long
to visit.

Walk out the door
enter the field
offer him your heart
and he will offer you his dreams.

Let the long experiences of famine
guide you both to the feast…

  1. Parker says:

I wanted to say how right on your thoughts were in the piece Famine Feasts. I used this very process in writing to reach a place within me and my awakening…never sure what would come tumbling out of me until it was already happening, saying yes somehow to this fluidity of spirit… let that field of being to flow when I was all tied up within. Somehow, something knew how to loosen those laces, plow that field, make ready what had remained hardened and rigid….alchemy at its simplest.
