Poem: Other Side of the Ocean

Other Side of the Ocean

When I am lonely
she is on the other side
of an ocean.
To reach her
is to tread water
across a desert.

Do you know how
much ocean is out there…
and when you awaken,
how much is in here?

No one knows about
the vastness
until it runs in their veins
until it is like sea salt
on their lips.

No one knows about it
until grains of sand
teach them adulation
and sorrow.

Ill defined leagues
tremble inside of you
pulsating, vibrating,
openness uncontained
fortitude with no sides
expansion without…

Defining the course
of “Awakening” for others
is performed by people
who sleep,
and may as well be using
their nautical maps
as pillows
for all they know of guidance.

My awakening is under the stars
revolves around a constellation
of two lovers.

One who never leaves…
Oceanic love, supreme, without limit.

And the second love, I have not found…
but she is the one I share it with
from the other side
of the ocean,
when I am lonely.
