Poem: Named Things

What can I say to you?
You are here, like the Earth
and your idea of your true nature, is like the Sun
and the astronomical unit between the two
is a loving study of how you overcome
the dream of distance…
the beautiful ways in which you build ships of mind
to explore infinite illusion
a quest for the self…out there,
floating in
what you already are,
questions like oxygen
supplied through an ego you wear
like a spacesuit.

What can I say?
Except that you are the ocean
and swimming alongside your soul
brings dolphin leap joy smiles
when I am near you…
are you sure you aren’t loveable…
enough…
yet,
when all this ocean is you?

What can I see?
Except for that which separates
you, indelibly
from seeing God’s fingerprints
all over your body
your soul
your life
and that your’s match God’s.

Why explain to anyone
what separates them from God
when what they came here to do
is be separate from God?
Because… my journey towards
separation’s end
demands that I do.

So, here we all are…
What else can I do
but love your tangled mess
like a lover’s hair
first thing in the morning,
when I arise
to love my own?
