Poem: What Do I Say?

What do I say,
when the body you lived in
has gone away?
And when I ask
where you went
…when I cry
because you are only
all around me now
how is it that you manage
to comfort me
by being all around me?
I say thank you.

How is it
that when I stay,
here
while you are
there
that others heal all the more?
Honestly, I’d rather you stayed.

What can I say
about the vagrant way
my life’s loves
step off of trains
into other’s arms,
begging for different
luck?
I helped them pack.

How do I casually tell
of the whole worlds
and layers of dimension
that move through me
when I sit with another
when no words are sharp enough
to express the acute beauty
of their unfolding?
I say it with Love.
