Poem: Reticular Formation

Inebriated with loneliness
drunk
with cultivated
and spiritual
thought.

Full color all sensory
maya
is the reticular formation,
the cool water of samsara
that keeps us from burning alive
lest we are struck with the beacon
light
of emptiness.

We arrive in the belly
of the world
and rumble
with the articulate…distinct
hunger
of origin.

Love
sobers through
Cogent realization
awakening to itself…

…then finds the garden
already blooming
enough to feed
a lifetime.

The things we fear
are like a spider
that descends from the corner
only to tickle the fly….
before setting it free.

One Response to Poem: Reticular Formation

  1. Mike & Sarah says:

love is the solvent that melts us back into the emptiness that we are. Charlie’s metaphor of the world as acting as a recticular organ of digestion is rather profound and original.
