Poetry: These Words Are Made Out Of Paper

DSC_2211

These words
are made
out of paper,
and gravity pulls
in exhausted breaths
on all that is perpendicular.
Set flame to my works…
the trees will
still stand.

These words
are made
out of paper,
speak against them
and your breath
becomes a gale.
My words spiral away
feathers and confetti
flight and play
into night
like light
in darkness…
please oppose me.

These words are made out of paper
only when seen too closely…
fall away far enough
and the paper is seen to be a page
the page in the middle of a book
on a shelf in a library
the envy of Alexandria…
these words are only made out of paper
so that you can see them
until the time comes
til you can feel them
when no one needs to know
but you.

These words are made out of paper,
because there was that day
when you had to read
about love.
