Poetry: How Bright

I am in the center of a crystal
noticing how the light
appears
as it comes into the center
right where I am.

I notice too
how I look to others
as they look at me,
turning the stone.

We look different
to different people.
Everyone’s friend
is likely
someone else’s enemy.

If you live long enough
you will have been
both.

The people you trust
are likely
someone else’s reason
for never trusting
anyone again.

I seem to have
mastered both.

It’s rare that anyone
looks the same
to everyone.

No matter how bright
the light may be.

    Love this:
    The people you trust
    are likely
    someone else’s reason
    for never trusting
    anyone again.
