Poetry: A Garden Grows

One person is in ecstasy
true platonic ecstasy
with the very thing
that makes another
twist and writhe
in agony.
Tantra or torment…
who decides
which is which,
for whom?

Mind takes your hurts
by the hand…
walks you into
a foreign land.
That whole world
can become a wailing wall
for a whole life-time
because people
have a life-time
of wails
in the well
if they listen well
enough to feel it
all.

But that leaves
one like leaves
after the Fall
with nothing
but Winters ahead.

Love takes your hurts
by the heart
makes you pray
they never depart.
Love makes your pain
a constant companion
that you share tea with…
talk about old times with…
throw beloved ashes and bones into the sea…
with.

With pain, the mind makes
all pain blossom.
Each day becomes a new Spring.
With pain, the heart makes
all pain a seed.
Water it with your God’s tears.
Pat down the Earth with
your bare back…right there.
Right there on the Earth
and stay there
until something beautiful grows.
